What to wear:
Wear something comfortable. Work out wear is perfect. For the ladies, heels are optional, but if you decide you’d like to wear heels, pick a modest heel. A character shoe, or ballroom shoe will work just fine.
Missed classes:
If you miss a class during your 8 week session, you can make it up during any one of the same style classes during the week or with any drop in class. For example, if you sign up for Beg/Int. class on Mondays at 6:15, you can make up the class on Tuesday or Thursday at 7:30. This also applies to the Basic Burlesque classes. No refunds will be given for missed classes, as there are many opportunities to make up the missed class. You will have one 8 week session after the session you registered for to make up a class. For example, if you sign up for the fall session, you can still make up classes in the winter session.
Payment:
Payment may be made online with Paypal from our registration page. If you’d like to pay in person, you may use check (make payable to Studio L’amour), credit card, or cash.
Choreography:
Choreography learned in class is meant for inspiration only. You are not allowed to go out and perform the choreography as your own, unless you have written consent from the instructor.
Teaching Methods:
At Studio L’amour, we teach the L’amour Method of Burlesque. The L’amour Method comes from a dance foundation and encourages people to learn how to move their body in its most flattering way. It is not a cookie cutter technique, but customized to the individual. This method focuses on maximizing movement for ALL body types. We design our classes for those that have no dance experience and those that do have dance experience. If you have previous injuries, please let us know as we can give you modifications for your sexy movement. The methods discussed in class are not to be used by the students to begin teaching their own classes. All of the teachers at Studio L’amour have been certified in the L’amour Method.
Observation Deck:
You are free to come and watch any class for up to 15 minutes in order to see if it suits your interests. Limit of 3 observers per class. Please contact Studio L’amour if you intend to observe a class.
Class Duration: Classes are one hour, unless otherwise noted.
Class Offerings:
We rotate our schedule of classes. If you do not see a date/time/enroll button for a listed class, it will be offered again in an upcoming session. Please see our current and upcoming class schedule.
Class Size:
Classes sizes are typically 10 – 15 people. Several classes sell out. It is always best to pre-register to secure your spot. The class maximum is 15. The class minimum is 5, so a class will not run if there are less than 5 pre-registered.
Age restriction:
All classes are restricted to ladies age 18 or older.
Will there be nudity in the class?
For Basic Burlesque, Beginning / Intermediate Burlesque, Men’s Striptease, Yoga and MOST Workshops, there is no actual undressing. Your comfort level is our concern and we strive to make sure that you are having fun while learning to be sexy. Once you master the principals you may be asked to join the Advanced classes, which result in a twice-per-year “recital”.

Parking:
There is street parking, both metered and unmetered. Please visit Chicago’s CTA website or Google Maps for the easiest route using public transportation from your home to ours.

Registration Online via Credit Card:
We offer online registration, via the PayPal system, for most of our classes, private lessons and workshops.
If you do not already have a PayPal account, you may be asked to create one – it only takes a minute or so. Once the transaction is completed, you will be returned to our site.
Multiple Class Registration Discount:
Class discounts apply to individuals taking multiple classes only.
Schedule is subject to change:
Classes are subject to cancellation due to low registration. Each student will be notified via email or phone call if that happens. To help avoid that situation, please register before the early registration deadline or at least drop us an email to let us know that you plan on attending a class.
Cancellation/Refund/Credit Policy for Group Classes & Workshops:
Cancellations / Changes are eligible for credit only. The credit will equal the full amount paid by the student and will be redeemable for future group classes/ workshops.
There are no refunds once a class has begun.
After the first class/ workshop begins, tuition is non-refundable. A credit will only be issued in the event of serious injury or long-term illness. The credit will be calculated by taking tuition paid, less $15 per class for number of classes taken, less $15 change fee per enrollee.
The above policies apply to all forms of payment for classes/ workshops including PayPal, cash, gift certificates and check.
If Studio L’amour cancels a class or workshop, the student will receive a credit toward a make up class.
